Your chart is only the beginning — the real insight comes from reading how the elements interact.
Book a 1-on-1 BaZi Reading Read: How to Interpret Your BaZi ChartBaZi (八字), also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a classical Chinese system of destiny analysis that has been refined for over a thousand years. Your birth year, month, day and hour are each expressed as a pair of characters — a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch — forming four pillars, eight characters in total. Together they map the elemental energies (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water) present at the moment you were born.
At the centre of every chart sits the Day Master, the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar. It represents you. Every other element in the chart is read in relation to it, through ten relationship archetypes known as the Ten Gods — such as Direct Wealth, Seven Killings and Eating God — which describe how wealth, career, creativity, relationships and support show up in your life.
Start with your Day Master and its element: a Ding (Yin Fire) Day Master is the gentle candle flame, quite different from the blazing sun of Bing (Yang Fire). Next, look at the Hidden Stems inside each Earthly Branch — they reveal energies that are not visible on the surface. Then follow your Luck Pillars: ten-year cycles that show how the emphasis of your life shifts over time, each labelled here with its calendar years so you can find where you are right now.
This calculator uses True Solar Time correction, adjusting your clock time by your birthplace's longitude and the equation of time, because the traditional hour system is based on the sun's actual position — for some people this changes the Hour Pillar, or even the Day Master. The late Zi hour convention (23:00–24:00 counts as the next day) follows the school used throughout Aria Life Talk's readings.
